Moodboard Monday | Black and white

Happy Monday! I've got a big week coming up on the blog with some great posts ahead. I have the second in my Mum's in Design series coming mid-week, with a fantastic Australian architect and Mum. In addition I've been working on an DIY Easter gift project that I'll pop up in the next few days. Last week I also came across an amazing Australian furniture designer and I'll be featuring his work during the week as well.

But for today I thought a bit of moodboard inspiration might be a nice start to the week.

Have a great day! x

Interior styling | Pia Wallen Crux and Cross blankets

The Pia Wallen Crux and Cross blankets (one the wollen original and the other a less expensive version) - they are everywhere. I've been meaning to do a post on it ever since I received my very own for Christmas. It works so well with my absolute favourite black and white combination and today I thought I would bring you a whole bunch of inspiration for how to use the throw, as well as some of my favourite complementary black and white products on the market at the moment (see moodboard below). The best part is that because it is reversible you are really getting two blankets in one! It also comes in other colours, for those who are not quite as obsessed with black and white as me. And there is also an adorable pint sized one for the little people in your world. Available from Story North

And finally, here's a shot of my own bedroom :) Poor photography but it was taken before I went to bed one night. Need to try and get a better photo of it in daylight one day. But you get the idea....

Here's my black and white inspiration for using with Pia Wallen's Crux blanket:

I've never really been a fan of yellow gold. I've always chosen white gold or silver for my jewellery and thought yellow gold was a bit old fashioned. But despite this even I really like the current gold and copper trend that is around. I've been seeing it a lot in fixtures and fittings such as tap ware, pendant lights and styling pieces. I'm not sure it's going to be a hugely long lasting trend though so if you do want to try and incorporate some of this look in to your home I would suggest inexpensive accessories that are easily able to be swapped out, like those listed above.

And below are some pictures for how to incorporate this trend in your home.

My week in pictures | Instagram picks

I've only very recently started using Instagram but I'm finding it a hugely inspiring place for discovering new design ideas and particularly for interior styling tips and tricks. I've also started using it as a place to put up some behind the scenes shots of my home, life, work with design clients and blog inspiration. The board below contains a few shots from Instagram of my last few weeks. Would love for you to pop over to my Instagram page and follow me. xx

My beautiful niece, Aveline xx

Today our family welcomed the arrival of my beautiful baby niece, Aveline. She's just gorgeous and having had three boys myself, it's wonderful to have a little girl for the boys (and me!) to dote on. Congratulations to my little sister Emily and her partner, Adam. Today is all about baby Aveline. xx

Take this outfit | Make this room | Modern girls bedroom

With the arrival of my first niece imminent, today it's all about cheerful, girly cuteness for me. And I think this gorgeous spotty dress made by Spanish label, Motoreta, is just too cute for words. As soon as I spotted it I knew just the room that would work well in this post. I just love the yellow vintage inspired beds, and the contrasting fluro pink pillow cases (a perfect match are these finds from Rachel Castle). And because I can't help myself I have also added in a few additional styling accessories that I think would work so well in this space.  x

Modern white bedroom inspiration

A quick look at my pinterest boards and it's clear I'm quite a fan of white. I've also recently been doing some research for a client who has asked for a (predominantly) white, peaceful bedroom that isn't too feminine (she has to share it with her husbansd!). So today I thought I might share some of that research with you as well as some of the products I've been thinking about recommending to her for this new, serene space we are creating.
