New year. New blog

What better way to start my new blog than to show you a taste of things to come. Some of my current obsessions can be seen in these photos below. E.g. Pia Wallen Blanket which, incidentally, I got for Xmas and now sits proudly at the end of our bed. This has sparked a whole new look for our bedroom by the way, but that's a whole other post....

Also love the Muuto Wood Lamp shown in this picture styled by Nina Holst of Stylizimo (actually I'm obsessed with anything and everything Muuto at the moment - stay tuned to see a pair of Unfold pendants coming to my home soon!).

I also love this work space below from A Merry Mishap Blog, particularly the chalkboard wall behind the desk.

In fact I love chalkboard paint so much we just redecorated our outside space and incorporated a chalkboard wall for the kids so they can draw and create as much as they want without chalk dust going all over the house. I love the yellow moose head that I picked up down at Terrace Outdoor Living at Bondi Beach.

So since my three little people came along five years ago, I try and maintain whatever design aesthetic I used to have before we had kids. Not only do I now live in a house with all boys (i.e. messy). They come with SO much junk. And most of it is colourful. And plastic. So clever storage ideas and durable furniture that will cope with dirty little munchkins who have little regard for design are what I look for.

For example, I love the look of this living room (there's my Pia Wallen blanket again :) ) - but the black and white triangle basket is great for hiding away the plastic toys (I found one very similar at Ferm Living), as are those nice deep drawers under the TV.

Although our home is based largely on a monochrome palette, I let the kids have more colourful, playful spaces. My son desperately wanted a bunk so I researched the best looking one I could find for our budget. I was so excited as it came in white - perfect! Unfortunately it also came in orange and guess which one Caleb wanted?! So I'm going with it and have used cheerful Rachel Castle prints and pillow cases to add fun and playfulness. The tallboy next to the bunk stores his massive lego collection - all out of sight. And all sorted by colour (did I mention I had OCD?). The crochet rug is from Lah de Dah Kids. If you haven't checked out their gorgeous wares then do yourself a favour and have a look.

So this is me and a taste of things to come. I take lots of images for this blog from my Pinterest account. So be sure to come and follow me there. I'll also be posting some regular features like Inspiring family homes, interviews with Mum's in the design world who have had to adapt their style to accommodate their little people, posts about how I style my own ever changing house and my cute kids room feature: Take this outfit | Make this room.

So this blog will be me curating ideas that inspire me. Hopefully the site will provide you with some inspiration for your well designed life with little people too!

I love to hear from readers so please comment below if you want to get in touch.
