Inspiring family homes | House Maher by Tribe Studio

I think today's home would have to be up there on my list of most coveted. House Maher, designed by the multi-award winning Tribe Studio Architects, is family living at it's best.

Designed for a young family on Sydney's lower north shore, clever joinery is incorporated everywhere, hiding the huge amount of clutter accumulated by little people. While the study area at the top of the stairs provides a functional and airy place to work.

Apart from the overall look and feel of this relaxing space, of particular interest to me is that the house was designed with special needs of the owners in mind. With one of the owners in a wheelchair the brief was to create a home that met her functional needs without looking like a disabled person lived there. A lift was sensitively incorporated, without being overbearing in the space, and modifications to the kitchen allow the owner to work and function easily. As the mother of a disabled child I'm always on the lookout for clever ideas for how to incorporate the needs of my son without compromising on aesthetics, so this home is a great inspiration to me.

The bedrooms are simple but angles from the gabled roof line provide architectural interest and strategically placed skylights and windows bounce the light around.

And the kitchen, with marble bench top, muted palette and vast ceiling height make a spectacular entertaining space, opening up to the pool and outdoor area.

I hope you have enjoyed taking a look around this amazing family home. If you like this house, check out the other spectacular projects by Hannah and her team at Tribe Studio

Have a great day and see you back here tomorrow!
